Both health and sickness are largely due to the communication to all parts of the body via the nervous system and various bodily fluids of factors in our current state of affairs in relation to our chronic conditions and personal history. Holistic medicine is that which recognizes the fact that health depends on our physical, mental, and emotional systems, and one system of the body affects all others. Flushing waste for a clean body is essential for good health; the body is two-thirds liquid to ensure that this cleansing can take place.

Human beings are 66% water; a 70 kg male contains about 40 – 45 litres water divided into different fluid compartments. The largest is the intracellular fluid compartment; any fluids such as blood and lymph (circulating and interstitial compartments) not contained inside a cell are known as extracellular fluid compartments.

I was down with a virus for weeks when I went for massage therapy for a back problem. The therapist knew several different techniques including acupuncture and traditional Chinese fire-cupping therapy. Fire cupping is a treatment where the reflexology points in the back are targeted and round glass orbs prepared by flame with a vacuum inside are placed on them, drawing up a circular patch of skin. The blood and lymphatic fluid are held there for about 10 minutes while a towel covers the back. The effect combined with reflexology and deep-tissue massage was no less than astonishing. My condition improved immediately and by the next day my sinuses were completely clear and I felt many times more energized than I could have hoped for.

google_ad_channel = “7940249670, ” + AB_cat_channel + AB_unit_channel;
google_language = “en”;
google_ad_region = ‘test’;

My treatment started with a Californian massage, similar to a Swedish or relaxation massage. These styles use 5 strokes to work the superficial tissue and increase circulation: effleurage, petrosage, friction, vibration and tapotement. Acupressure was integrated next to stop my tendency to cramp up. The experience and skill of trained therapists gives them an instinct for clearing and balancing bodily meridians.

Then I was introduced to the traditional Chinese Fire Cupping therapy. At first glance most people would probably pass on this treatment since it looks strange and also leaves red marks that stay for days. The ‘vacuum cupping’ as it’s also known, is commonly known in China and Europe as the cure for the common cold, and it lived up to that reputation completely. I felt twenty years younger and I was supercharged with energy for days. I hadn’t had massage therapyfor quite some time so there was a lot of tension to work through, probably necessitating the blend of therapies to get my body cleaning itself more efficiently.

It stands to reason that if our bodies become toxic swamps our health will suffer. When water in nature becomes polluted the fish die off yet many communities still continue to pour liquefied air pollution from the phosphate industry and the processing of aluminum – fluoride – into the public drinking water. This, combined with a cocktail of other deadly chemicals, fill up our organs with bad substances. Increased circulation and balanced energy meridians help to flush some of this waste. This faster this takes place the sooner we recover from the nagging cold or other ailment.

Magnets have been used for purposes beyond science experiments and picking up metal for hundreds of years. In fact, the Eastern cultures use magnets as key parts in some of their ‘alternative’ medicine. They provide an amazing alternative to the pharmacological zoo most Americans live in, and all of its possible side effects. Not all magnets are created equal, though, and it is thought that only the best will help. For the best magnets rare earth are the ones practitioners and manufacturers of magnetic jewelry go to.

Rare earth magnets are the most powerful magnets made today. They generate a magnetic field far above those of other kinds like ferrite or ceramic. Developed in the nineteen-seventies and eighties to further the automotive industry, they were quickly adopted by other areas and are currently used in a great many products, including consumer electronics. Despite their power, though, they are very brittle and are often plated with other materials in order to protect them from chipping, breaking and even corrosion.

google_ad_channel = “7940249670, ” + AB_cat_channel + AB_unit_channel;
google_language = “en”;
google_ad_region = ‘test’;

Magnets rare earth magnets in particular, are said to increase blood flow, decrease pain, and provide all manner of positive effects for the mind and body. It is thought that the magnets will have enough effect on the iron, and other trace metals, in the blood to alter its course. Along with that is the knowledge that the body creates its own form of magnetic field, and the belief is that the imbalances of this field is what causes a great many medical issues. To this mind, powerful magnets may correct the problem.

In alternative medicine, magnets are applied in a number of ways, depending upon the problem they are supposed to be fixing. There is a form of massage that utilizes magnets for those who want a relaxation exercise with their health care. There are blankets with magnets woven into them, magnetic creams, shoe insoles, and even magnetic mattresses. The most popular incarnation, though, is magnetic jewelry. Rings, bracelets, anklets, necklaces and watches, just to name a few, have been bonded with magnets in order to take advantage of the magnetic health principal.

It should be noted that there has been no scientific proof of the positive effects of magnets on the body. The scientific community has decided that the positive effects that are seen are simply the result of the placebo effect, in which the patient believes he should feel better, so he does.

Magnets rare earth and otherwise, are an important part to some health regimes. Though positive effects on the body may not have been proven, there are also no negative effects on the body; making them perfect for anyone who wants to try a new treatment or pain management technique. Magnetic jewelry even makes a great gift for the hypochondriac, sine it can be said to treat a great many illnesses, and cannot be over-used.

Yoga is known as a physical, mental and spiritual discipline which originated in India. Based on the definition in Wikipedia, the individual who practices yoga works to attain the state of having a perfect spiritual insight and tranquility while they’re meditating on the Supersoul.

How and when did Yoga started?
Nobody can tell when Yoga started, but it’s certain that Yoga is literally written in history. People found many stone carvings in the Indus Valley that was roughly 5000 years old. The stones contain the figures of Yoga positions which were drawn on the discovered stones.

The tradition of Yoga has constantly been handed down individually from many teachers to their students engaging in practical demonstrations. The formal techniques that at the moment are being applied by many students are believed to be a collection of experiences by a lot of individuals many years ago.

The eight well known steps of classical yoga are the following:
1. Yama which means restraint, to refrain from violence, lying, stealing, and the likes.

google_ad_channel = “7940249670, ” + AB_cat_channel + AB_unit_channel;
google_language = “en”;
google_ad_region = ‘test’;

2. Niyama is observance
3. Asana is physical exercises
4. Pranayama is a breathing technique
5. Pratyahara is the form of preparation for meditation and described as withdrawal of the mind from the senses
6. Dharana means concentration, the ability to hold the mind on one object for a specified time.
7. Dhyana is meditation, the ability to focus on one thing that is indefinite.
8. Samadhi which means absorption

Yoga arrived in the United States in the late 1800s however it wasn’t practiced mainstream until 1960s.

Yoga as an alternative cancer treatment
Yoga is a mixture of stretching exercises and deep breathing. In a yoga class, you’ll be placing yourself and your body in various positions which demands bending, twisting of the body and stretching. The primary benefit it gives cancer patients is that it gives temporary stress relief and long term stress management advantages. An individual who has cancer can be stressed in many ways.
a. They could be thinking too much of their disease that they cannot do the things that they would like to do. Which made them emotionally stressed.
b. They can also be physically stressed as a result of pain
c. Lastly, spiritually stress because they might be asking why these things are happening to them. Asking why God allowed this kind of disease to enter their bodies.

Yoga quiets the mind; the practitioner or patient becomes aware of his emotions and understands to substitute negative thoughts to positive or neutral ones. However, for yoga to be effective, research indicates cancer patients must participate in yoga 2 to 7 times a week. It’s known to help boost sleep and reduce the fatigue our body amasses daily of our lives.

Those are just a few of the benefits of yoga for cancer patients. Even so, your doctor’s advice is also required. Yoga is a superb option for everyone not merely to folks who have cancer. Check out the up coming article included in a series of alternative cancer treatments.

If you’ve recently lost a significant amount of weight you may have been left with excess loose, flaccid skin. Many people will find that regular vigorous exercise will help to improve the muscle tone underneath the skin. Eating the right kind of foods and possibly taking supplements can also help to regenerate the skin’s condition.

Collagen and elastin are proteins that are found in the body’s connective tissues, bones, ligaments and skin. Collagen provides healthy, spongy skin structure and elastin provides its elasticity. Aromatherapy can be extremely beneficial for skin tone and cell regeneration. Some essential oils encourage skin cell renewal, therefore strengthening integrity of the skin, while others stimulate lymphatic flow and circulation which helps combat sluggish, congested skin. Better circulation increases oxygenation and nutrition to the dermis which in turn stimulates the production of collagen and encourages the cells to multiply. It is thought that the nutrients and proteins found in essential oils also helps to stimulate and protect collagen and elastin production. Aromatherapy massage also stimulates the peripheral nerve endings, reducing stress and tension which can increase the rate at which collagen and elastin are broken down.

To improve the skin tone and condition a completely holistic approach is needed. Lots of exercise, plenty of water and a protein rich diet with lots of Vitamin C, E, A, Zinc and Copper. Aromatherapy should be used to its fullest effect and you should take advantage of aromatherapy massages, aromatic baths, skin scrubs and moisturising lotions and base oils. You should choose your oils according to skin type or consult a local aromatherapist who will guide you.

For normal skin, where the only issue is loose skin tone following weight loss, we recommend the following blends:

Massage Oil:

Add 3 drops Rosemary, 2 Lemon, 3 Geranium, 5 Lavender essential oil to 20ml Grapeseed Oil, 5ml Carrot Oil and 5 ml Camellia Oil

Aromatic Bath: Add 1 cup Dead Sea Salt and 5 drops Lavender essential oil, 2 Fennel and 1 drop Rose/Neroli

Lotion/Cream:

Add 10 drops Lavender, 3 drops German Chamomile, 7 Rosemary, 5 Frankincense and 5 drops Lime essential oil to 100ml fragrance free Moisturising Lotion or Cream. Apply regularly

Body Scrub:

To remove dead skin cells and aid skin tone and circulation: 2 tblsp fragrance free Bath & Shower Gel, 2 tblsp Dead Sea Salt, 1 tblsp fine oatmeal, 1 tblsp bicarbonate of soda, 5 drops Lime essential ol, 2 Lemon, 2 Rosemary, 2 Fennel and 2 Geranium. Mix together thoroughly and use straight away. Apply in smooth circular rotations

Hot/Cold:

Helps to stimulate the circulation/muscle/skin tone – try alternating your shower from hot to cold. Regular saunas/steam rooms with a cold shower /plunge pool is particularly beneficial

Note: For massage, creams and lotions always apply in an upward motion on limbs (towards the heart) to aid blood and lymphatic circulation, and in a clockwise direction on the stomach to aid digestive flow.

Holistic treatments are more favored now than the traditional treatments. Their raising popularity can be accorded to the easy, non-intrusive and attempt at treating the person in whole. Naturopathy and Homeopathy are two systems of treatments that complement each other.

Naturopathy is a method of treatment that targets to mend lifestyle and impose diet modifications to tackle a particular ailment or syndrome. It may use Homeopathy and other herbal remedies etc to tackle a disease. Homeopathy that way is part of Naturopathic treatment. Naturopathy as many other ways of handling a disease too.

Homeopathy is purely based on medications. A seasoned homeopath may advise some lifestyle changes but usually these practitioners give medicines to heal a disease from its root. While people claim that homeopathy does not heal a patient’s mind, a homeopath always takes a patient’s mental condition into picture. He individualizes the case and treats the patient, which means that the patient is dealt with in totality taking into account his past history, his mental condition, his likes and dislikes etc.

Naturopathy has evolved in the Western countries and people from all walks of life have turned to this form of treatment. Naturopathy is a vast science as it accommodates other alternative medicines like herbal products, homeopathic medicines, therapies, yoga, lifestyle modifications, remedial massage, and tackling nutrition. In general Homeopaths do not ask for any diet changes though they may ask you to keep away if they find you are allergic to some food.

Homeopathy believes in law of similar. It can shock those skeptics who have no faith in the medicine by curing a person of a disease in the fastest way. People who think that Homeopathic medicines are sweet pills and are placebo pills need to rethink. If a normal person is given the cure of itching for example he can develop itching which he did not have at all but the same medicine may cure a person with itching. It is difficult for people who use traditional medicine to understand this philosophy.

Both the forms of treatment have less commonality with traditional methods of treatment as both naturopathy and homeopathy get to roots of a problem and not cure just the top.
